Christ And My Freedom From Worry

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Read Philippians 4:1-23.

All of us have heard about freedom from worry and some of us have even preached sermons about it. Yet none of us are worry-free. The fact remains, however, that worry is both definable and conquerable. Worry has been defined as the absence of an organized plan. It follows then that the only way you can obtain an organized plan entirely sufficient for any given situation is by turning the whole matter over to God who already knows the score. “Known unto God are all His works from the beginning of the world” (Acts 15:18).

When I am upset about something I find it helps to write down what I am worrying about. Many times when I make that effort I see immediately the fallacies in my thinking and a way out of them. Try it yourself the next time you start to fret. Next, tell God about your problem, point by point. Finally, wait on Him. When you really pray about what is bothering you, God, in His faithful way through the Holy Spirit, will always give you one step of obedience that you can take immediately.

Small thought here. When you take that first step, the pressure flees and the worry dissipates because you know you are now walking in the direction of God’s perfect plan for you. His peace will come to you and guard your heart and mind like a garrison of soldiers.
